March 7: Artem and Sugusinghe, Chudo, KC Grad

I was really glad to see Chudo make a short comeback – and even more so that it happened in Belgrade rather than their original location. Can’t wait to see their lineup for this year.

I always like to joke that I’m "too white" for this kind of music, but the truth is I just enjoy Sugusinghe more as a producer than as a DJ, though she excels at both.
March 28: Richie Hawtin, Kran

It was my first time both hearing Richie Hawtin live and visiting Kran since it opened.

The place itself is kind of… posh. As you walk in, you’re greeted by a wine fridge full of expensive sparkling wine. If you’re an unlucky individual like me and end up standing on the dancefloor near the bar, you’ll constantly get interrupted by waiters moving from one side of the club to the other, hauling boxes of Heineken or trays of empty glasses back and forth.

As for Richie himself, I’ve always had mad respect for artists who play live sets. Still, for my taste, this one felt a bit simple – I’ve been leaning more toward breakbeat and leftfield techno lately, so it’s not really his fault. My companion, on the other hand, really dug his vibe, so overall it’s a win.

March 20: We Play House Music, Bar 20/44

It finally happened: I played my first live gig! It was stressful, the deck was barely holding on for dear life, but I got so overwhelmed that I just went with the flow and stopped caring about all the mistakes I was making (and trust me, there were many).

Shoutout to my teacher for organizing it, and to my lovely friends who came to listen to me!
March 31: b-day party

This event was an interesting one, since it was the birthday party of the founder of the DJ school I attend. On one hand, the equipment was much newer, and even though it was my first time playing on the Pioneer DJ OPUS deck, I got used to it pretty quickly.

On the other hand, the crowd was a bit more demanding: there were other DJs and producers in the room, so even the smallest mistakes felt noticeable (or at least that’s how it felt to me).

But not gonna lie, those two hours flew by!

Planet Rhythm – DUBWARS Vol 2

This March, I took a short trip to Nice – a wonderful city, by the way – and, as always, I was on the lookout for a vinyl shop: I always try to bring a record back from wherever I go.

A friend showed me a spot that’s both a coffee shop and a record store. The selection was quite small – maybe around 50 records – but the space itself is tiny, so it makes sense that there isn’t room for much more.

The selection was solid, and I managed to find a record that fits my current goal: tracks to practice mixing with. So a win is a win.
